Currently in the middle of the season, COS Women’s tennis team is doing rather well, holding three wins out of five games as of March 12.

The team roster is made up of 7 freshman and 1 sophomore player, Charice Rumelhart, a second year COS student of the team.

“The team will be very strong next year when it will be sophomore dominated,” said Rumelhart.

This year’s top three players on the team include Ana Griggs, Heather Cabututan, and Kaley Reeder.

Assistant Coach, Stacey Chavez, who was a former COS tennis player, agreed on the sense that the team will be much better next year.

“The team is doing very well, it’s a good year to go through their strokes and back hands to get ready for next year,” said Chavez.

The girls play Tuesdays and Fridays, with four more league games to come, two being at home. March 20th they will play Fresno City here on the COS tennis courts. Their following match on March 24 will also be at home against Reedley. Their remaining two games that will be away include Sacramento City on March 17 and their last game, March 27, playing Modesto J.C.

“All girls are hard working and have lots of fun out there,” said Chavez.

Everyone is encouraged to go out and watch these women play. They would love the support.
