From being a closet nerd to Energizer bunny, COS swimmer Alex Muhs has everything it takes to be an all-star swimmer.

Swimming for 13 years, Muhs has picked up many traits for being an outstanding swimmer, one of which would be his stamina.

“He does not get tired,” said swimming coach Tracy Myers.  “He is like the Energizer Bunny.”

Before attending COS Muhs was a Redwood High School student. Going into his freshman year he picked up a new sport, but not by choice.

“I wanted to play football but my mom pushed me to play water polo,” said Muhs. “She didn’t want me to get hurt, I only weighed 120 then.”

He also added,  “After I got onto Varsity she told me, ‘Water Polo is rough, maybe I should have let you play football,’ after I got on the team I became friends with the guys on the team and stuck with it.”

Outside of sports, Muhs likes to find comfort and spends free time hanging out with friends and playing video games.

“I am kind of a closet nerd,” said Muhs. ”My favorite is Halo 3 on the Xbox 360.”

Muhs doesn’t like the practice but he loves competing for swimming.

“I like winning, that’s what drives me,” said Muhs.

The Psychology major is planning on transferring to San Diego Sate University, but will continue his swimming career.

“Alex is a nice guy, he helps me out,” said COS swimmer Stephen Robles.
