AlertU No Longer In Use

AlertU was phased out when the school installed the Purple Tree system. However, McCusker and Chief Masterson said that the Purple Tree system is capable of sending out text message alerts.

Ann Coulter, best-selling author, syndicated columnist and conservative political satirist, was accused of hate crimes at the University of Ottawa in a speech she had not yet given. COS is upgrading the security of its campus. Plans have been made to install a new alarm system as well as upgrade the current one. Measure I, a measure COS has passed, funds the new alarm system project.

COS Tulare Campus Project Estimated to be $12 Million Under Budget

The Tulare College Center Phase 1 is a project taking place in the city of Tulare on Bardsley avenue across from the new Tulare High School, Mission Oak. The project is taking place on 500 acres of land COS has owned for around 12 years.

COS Softball Gets Dugouts and Locker Room

Plans have been made to construct dugouts and team room facilities on the softball field here on campus. The COS Foundation, an organization that can accept tax-free donations, agreed to provide $250,000 for construction costs.

COS Bannner System Gives Trouble for Waitlist Students

The recent upgrade to the COS Banner system is causing problems with the waitlist process for COS students.

Employment Opportunities and Updates From University Preparatory High School

Last fall, the Tulare County Office of Education and College of the Sequoias brought a new charter school, University Preparatory High School (UPHS), to the COS campus. The charter school started by opening its doors to 81 freshmen and sophomores, and expects to reach over 150 students in the coming semester.

Final Drop Dates Draw Near

Friday, March 26 is the final date COS students have to drop an unwanted class with a result of a “W” on their transcript.
