Gottschalks Liquidation Under Way

    As many of you know, the liquidation of Gottschalks has begun. Going out of business signs drape the ceilings of the once treasured jewel of Visalia. ALL SALES FINAL, STORE CLOSING, and ALL MANUFACTURERS WARANTIES ARE IN FULL EFFFECT signs can be found at every register. The Store’s atmosphere and attitude has changed along with the prices.

    The third of this month was when the liquidation sale started with a slew of customers coming in to the store in search of great deals on great items.  Many bargain shoppers were disappointed with the meager discounts offered.  The liquidators’ 10%, 20% and 30% toppers have replaced Gottschalks’ 50%, 60% and 70% toppers. 

    Even though the prices are higher than what they were before liquidation, customers can’t help but buy, buy, buy.

The store was filled with unfamiliar faces, overcrowded with people who did not step foot into Gottschalks before liquidation.


    Along with meager discounts, there have been new products introduced into the store. Oriental rugs can be found on the once organized domestics department, and fur jackets can be found in the better women’s department; Both with ridiculously high prices.

    As time passes by, the discounts will become deeper,  until the store closes its doors around June or July.
