COS will hold a forum on Wednesday, May 13 to interview candidates for the position of Vice President of Academic Services of the college.
In addition to carrying out his duties as College of Sequoias’ president, Dr. Bill Scroggins has been handling the work of vice president of academic services since Ron Johnson vacated the position last January. Duties that Scroggins has taken on as vice president of Academic Services include working closely with academic deans, division chairs, faculty, and various committees to improve courses, update the course catalog, and to make sure administration runs smoothly.
Prior to holding the forum, a screening committee, including Scroggins and Michele Hester-Reyes, president of the Academic Senate Chair of Screening, will interview the candidates. It is anticipated that the committee will then invite three or four of those candidates to participate in the forum.
The forum will be conducted in two parts, beginning with the screening committee asking prepared questions to the candidates, followed by questions from the audience to the candidates.
“The way the candidate handle themselves in the open forum will affect the selection of hiring,” said Scroggins.
The location of the forum will be held in Room 107 of the John Muir building starting at 1 p.m. with the introduction of the first candidate Kimberlee Messina, presently the Dean of Instruction at Santa Rosa Junior College.
At 1:40 p.m., the forum will continue with the introduction of the second candidate Duncan Graham, the Dean of the Fine Arts and Communication division at Foothill College.
Lastly at 2:20 p.m., the forum will present Loretta Cenett-Bailes, Dean of Student Learning at Rio Hondo College.
The anticipated start date of the successful candidate is July 1, 2009.
