Imagine completing your A.S. Degree and Paralegal Certificate, being a 3rd year member of the College of the Sequoias Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, having your dad as one of your teachers, being a youth minister intern, and Co-Hosting a weekly youth oriented podcast in the Central Valley.
It is not hard for Elizabeth Seaward to imagine as a third year student at COS. At the age of 20 she has been a part of all of these things and much more. She is also currently finishing her requirements to transfer to Fresno State as a communications major this fall.
"Liz (Elizabeth) is a very driven young woman. When she sets her mind to something, I can guarantee it will get done, with creativity and will exceed expectations," said Tracy LaMar, a 2nd year COS student as well as best friend of Elizabeth Seaward.
Elizabeth and her family have lived outside Woodlake for about 12 years now.
She likes working with youth organizations. Her church has readily recognized her to organize youth events and counsel the youth with their spiritual walks as the youth minister intern in the summer of 2007. Also she had worked as part of the program staff at a Christian Summer Camp.
"It truly showed me that I can make a difference in someone's life," said Seaward.
"She has been very active with youth groups at church and with Tulare County Right to Life. She is a lovely daughter and I am very proud of her," said her father, Jeff Seaward. Jeff Seaward is the COS Fine Arts Division Chair and Choral Director. He is also one of Elizabeth's teachers.
"I have enjoyed having her in my class; she keeps me honest and does not give me any slack," said Mr. Seaward.
"I love the feeling of being able to fully communicate the emotion of a piece of music to an audience. You can't replace that," said Elizabeth Seaward.
Elizabeth discovered her love for speaking after competing in an annual speech contest. That is when she changed her major to communications. Now she is a co-host of a weekly youth oriented podcast called "Life-Report. ProLife Talk. Real world Answers". If anyone would like to check out the podcast you can visit www.prolifepodcast.net.
"Giving back to my community is important to me and I have enjoyed being an active volunteer for Right-To-Life of Central California for several years now," said Elizabeth.
Elizabeth is not for sure on what she wants to do when she completes her BA from Fresno State but she still wants to work with youth and the different issues that she believes in. She is also considering whether she wants to get into law school or not but she says that she will just wait and "see what opportunities present themselves."
Elizabeth Seaward has succeeded in so many aspects and may continually accomplish many things to come. Her friends even find her to be an important part in their own lives.
"She's the friend who keeps me grounded and helps me remember what is important in life. She has very great things ahead of her, even if she doesn't quite realize it now," said Tracy Lamar, her best friend.
