College students march at the 2010 Walk for Life in San Francisco.

I'm not going to sugarcoat this in an attempt to not offend anyone.  Pro-choice students are kind of dumb.

Here's the deal.  Our generation is an over-whelmingly pro-life one.  At times it may not look like it.  But that is only because the 'pro-choice' students out there are just misinformed kids who are closet pro-lifers.  And abortion rights activists know it.

The big beautiful tomorrow of pro-choicers, where every girl knows the joy of choosing to have a giant suction machine inserted between her legs... that world is slowly slipping through pro-choice fingers as the youth of today just won't cooperate.  Not even the 'pro-choice' ones.  Here's what's happening.

Groups like Planned Parenthood and National Abortion Rights Action League have promised in a national press releases to mobilize a 'citizen army' to defend abortion rights and 'protect women'.  They brag that this army will include both seasoned activists and "the new generation of women who have never known a world without the right to choose," according to Kate Michelman, president of NARAL.

And they're successful. Kind of.

You see, the majority of youth who conform to the pro-choice ideology of their pro-abortion leaders, have no idea what being 'pro-choice' actually entails.  Let's take a look at just how informed this 'pro-choice' army is:

A recent Zogby international poll asked students who label themselves as pro-choice activists, "Should abortion be permitted after the fetus has a heartbeat?"  And 61% responded with a firm "No".  Considering the fact that fetal heartbeat occurs 18-21 days after conception, (usually before the mother even knows that she is pregnant) and that literally every surgical abortion ends a beating heart, then this would mean that 61% of self-proclaimed 'pro-choicers' are actually, in fact, pro-life.

And that's the bad news for pro-abortion recruiters.  Someone might tell their army the biological facts behind fetal development.  I'm not joking people, knowledge and elementary school biology is the Achilles Heel of the abortion rights movement.

A national poll by Hamilton College found that the majority of high school seniors take a pro-life position on abortion, saying it's morally wrong, and would support legislative proposals that would limit abortions and help women find alternatives.  The poll also found that the majority of pro-choice high school seniors do not believe abortions should be allowed for sociological reasons, such as when women are too poor to afford another child, or unable to have a baby at the time, or just want to fit into that dress in time for prom.

And here's the kicker.  Studies from the Alan Guttmacher Institute, the research arm of Planned Parenthood, find approximately 95 percent of all abortions are done for such sociological reasons.  So once again, we find our self-proclaimed pro-choicers adopting a stance for life in relation to the procedure of surgical abortion.

I know there is still a lot of hostility toward life activists on campuses.  But to put it frankly, adamant, die hard pro-choicers - who make up the tiniest percentage of students on campuses - are just misinformed, dogmatic individuals who want to push their political ideology on their peers.  The anger and hostility being thrown at pro-lifers by these students is born more out of confusion than out of a genuine conviction for the abortion cause.  Because the polls cited above make it fairly conclusive that the average student has no clue what they are getting into when they adopt the label of 'pro-choice'.

So NARAL has declared war with life and they have raised their puppet army of uninformed youth.  But we have discovered that the age old strategy of 'telling it like it is' brings this mighty empire to its knees.  So why are pro-lifers still walking scared on campus while pro-choicers talk up Planned Parenthood in the quad?

Well, simply put, way too many genuine pro-life students are wimps.  As shown above, polls of high schoolers and college students have heralded the arrival of an overwhelming pro-life trend.  But answering 'pro-life' in a survey doesn't make you an activist.  And some well meaning students who stand for life don't seem to realize that abortion isn't only a battle to fight on pro-life T-shirt day.

We are a majority!  We are a powerful force to be reckoned with!  And the beautiful thing is, most of your opposition is, in fact, pro-life at heart!  All you have to do is point at a fetal model, explain the gruesome dismemberment of the child in abortion, and get involved with our campus outreaches, and the tide will keep turning in your favor.  I promise.

You may not yet feel like the majority that the polls indicate you are becoming.  But know that you are not alone.  And here's some wisdom from a sci-fi nerd... the underdogs with righteous causes always win in the end.  Ever see Star Wars?  Firefly?  Serenity?  If you are too scared to take a bold stand, it's only because you haven't allowed yourself to become a vital part of the pro-life crew.  Instead you're just the random guy in the red shirt who gets killed off every episode.  (Yes.  Geeks for the win.)

Our generation isn't buying the lie that abortion is good for women, or families, or society.  Our generation is able to see the truth, in spite of living our whole lives in a legal system that accepts abortion.  Being born in "a world that has never been without choice", we see that we are truly survivors of an abortion holocaust.  We see the pain and tears of our friends and family that have been scarred by this deadly "choice" and we say no more.

It's time to take a bold stand on our campus.  COS Students for Life will be meeting this Tuesday at 1pm in John Muir Room 107.  We'll be discussing upcoming events on campus and equipping and educating students for pro-life debates.  Be there!  You won't regret it.

okay everyone is entitled to their own opinions they are like buttholes everyone has one. And my opinion is that until i have foster children and or adopted children in my home i have no right to tell someone they must have a child. The news is full of children disappearing and come to find out that the parents killed them one way or another. So i ask you what would have been better for the life to have been ended before it began or before they are able to forfill ANY kind of potential. If you do not want me to do what i feel i need to do then you need to guarentee me that everything will be roses, if you can not do that then shut the blank up and let me live my life the way i feel is best for me. If you are really pro life then get out there and start living, go to the rehab houses and the halfway houses and the teen pregnancy houses and do some good help out when your life is perfect and you have made everyone's life perfect that you come into contact with. Then and only Then will I allow YOU to tell me how to live my life and what is best for me.

Gingi is right, many posts have been removed. Who is in charge of this censorship? What is the point of offering a medium to voice opinions if those voices are going to be silenced?

Hi, this is Gingi Edmonds. I received a letter from Brian Hudon informing me that he was censored on this thread. Why were all the civil and respectful comments on this thread deleted, but the rude and hostile comments on my opinion peice left in place? I know that we have a policy of "not responding to fellow students opinions", however I think the blatant censorship of pro-life students over pro-choice ones is a violation of free speech. Kind of ironic from a "First Amendment Newspaper". This needs to be addressed in class on Tuesday.

Nicely done, Gingi: Leaving aside the 'anti-' comments that skip the arguing part and go directly to unsupported slurs about your intelligence, one notes that the arguments pro-choice are strangely like Douglass's arguments against Lincoln: People (and states) should have the right to choose whether or not to own slaves. Who are we to tell others what to do.

Then the pro-abortion gang says, "Well slavery violates the right to freedom of the enslaved," while strangely missing the way abortion violates the right to life of the fetus. Pro-choice for some is no choice for others.

The rally cry of 'my body, my choice' is a joke. The female makes her 'choice' when she has unprotected sex. *very few rapes actually result in pregnancy, so we are going to leave those out of this debate, as well as true medical danger to mother pregnancies, which have always been 'legal'*.
Once you conceive, it is not YOUR body that is ripped to shreds. It is not YOUR life that is stolen away. Mature, thinking adults should know simple elementary school facts that plainly prove that it is a HUMAN BEING in that womb. And ALL Americans are supposed to be protected under the law. (The Right to LIFE, Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness)...Roe v Wade is a farce and should be overturned. Abortion kills more than wars, yet people like Code Pink and other Femi-Nazi types support it. Get the facts people. KNOW what you truly 'support'. Killing an innocent child to make your life easier is called MURDER.

This is a comment to the "Anonymous" (Or anyone who knows them) who posted:

"I just wanted to chime in and agree with you. Rock on girl! I pray to Satan every day to stop these abortionists. The high law of Wicca commands "An it harm none do what ye will." KILLING BABIES IS CERTAINLY HARMFUL. So let me tell you, you are doing good work, and may you walk in the light of Lucifer the Morningstar, he who commands us against the Demiurge."

You should totally come check out the Pro-Life Club. Pro-lifers get branded with the image of these closed minded bible thumping Christians. I think your involvement would really help people to think twice abort the topic of abortion.

I think it's funny how you pro-choice guys are foaming at the mouths and throwing sand like third-graders when you can't intelligently refute what they said. It's kind of funny to read. Hit home, much? rofl

I think tho one forcing political ideologies on others is the pro-lifers. You say that killing an unborn fetus is MORALLY wrong, so abortion should be illegal. That is you trying to impose your morals on me. All the pro-choicers want is the freedom to make the decision for them selves and not have you tell them what they are aloud to do. Why is it the governments or your business what I do with my family. If I made a mistake and cant support a family right now the last thing i need is for you to be sitting there telling me that I have to bring up my child in poverty or give it up for adoption where they will most likely get lost in the system and end up poverty stricken parents or criminals. That is a great future for that fetus isn't it. Try taking a look at the social problems caused by people who have children when they don't have the means of supporting them. Now I don't support abortion for people as a way to have unprotected sex and not worry about having a baby. The women who do that need to be better informed on the damage that an abortion can do to their body's. If they knew that there was a good chance that afterwords they may never be able to conceive again they might think more closely about having an abortion. All in all I think what people do in their PRIVATE LIVES is up to them not the government and defiantly not you equally uninformed pro-lifers that feel the need to tell everyone else what they should do.

Actually, it's just the coastline of California that's majority Liberal. The rest of us aren't. Just thought I'd throw that out there, as I wouldn't want people to get there facts mixed up.

I wish I were in junior college, so I could learn to form nuanced and intelligent opinions about abortion. Wait, no I think I got mixed up. Actually, you're retarded.

Pro-choice does not mean pro-abortion. Some woman just want the right to have that option open. Calling people stupid for what they believe in doesn't make you better. People just need to learn that this will always be an issue, and California is a very liberal state. If you can't handle it move elsewhere, like Texas!

Learn your history sweetie. The act of abortion was instituted by Margaret Sanger, a eugenicist that sought to exterminate African Americans and other minorities. It was designed as an act of racial genocide, and it is accomplishing it's goal with minorities abortion their kids 4 times oftener than whites.

Scientifically and biologically speaking, abortion is indisputably the killing of a human being with a heart beat and measurable brain waves. When this happens on a mass scale, such as 53 million abortions in the United Stated since 1973, then yes, it is technically and literally a HOLOCAUST. (Definition of Holocaust - Thorough destruction involving extensive loss of life.)

abortion cannot even be compared to the holocaust, sorry. the holocaust was a mission to exterminate the existence of an entire people. not every doctor is out to "murder" every child that is conceived. if that were the case, humanity would be in great danger. there are plenty of women still having healthy children, do not prosecute someone's choice not to participate in that lifestyle. do not compare it to the holocaust, because that it is something it is definitely not.

I agree. I think history will look at men and women who support killing innocent children as cowards. "Choosing" not to birth a child starts before you spread your legs. Once a child has a beating heart, "choosing" not to birth it is choosing to brutally dismember and kill it. And as Abraham Lincoln said, "Nobody has the right to do what is wrong." Not all choices are right. Remember, it was a "choice" to own slaves too.

Cowards? Really? Because we support a woman's right to choose whether or not she wants to birth a child?
