The COS Lady Giants Softball team lost 4-3 to Fresno City College on Thursday in a matchup of the first and second place teams in the CVC conference.
This game was all about the pitching for both teams. COS Pitcher Lauren Crow allowed only two earned runs over six innings and only walking one Rams batter. Fresno City Pitcher Vanessa Salinas was a little better though in getting her league leading 17th win, allowing three runs, striking out two and walking only one Lady Giant.
The offense was a little quiet for COS, as they didn’t score their first run until the sixth inning. Left fielder Millie Martin, though had a strong offensive game as she had the only two Giant hits until the fifth inning. She would also drive in a run in the contest. The big offensive punch came just a little too late for the Lady Giants as standout third baseman Taylor Wright hit long Home Run to Left Center field in the seventh inning, it came with two outs though.
With the loss, the Lady giants now fall out of first place in the CVC Conference by half a game. They fall to 26-8 overall and 13-3 in league. COS will close out its regular season schedule with a home doubleheader vs. Reedley College on Tues. Apr. 24.
