The COS Giants Baseball team continued a winning streak by squeaking out a 7-6 win over Reedley College on Tuesday Afternoon.
The Giants won thanks to outstanding pitching by staff ace Michael Isom and an explosive third inning during which the giants scored six of seven runs, winning the game as the result.
In the third inning, Giants third baseman Ryan McClellan started off the inning with a single, and also came to bat again in the inning to drive in two runs with a single. So in one inning McClellan went 2-2 with two runs batted in. Those were McClellan’s only two hits in the game, Also in the inning, Kevin Seeger hit a two run single, just adding to his stellar day in which he had 4 hits in 4 at-bats.
Other offensive punch for the Giants, came from speedy leadoff hitter Devin Lee, who contributed with two hits and a walk, and Designated Hitter Michael Flores,who came through with a hit, 2 runs scored, and a walk.
Giants standout pitcher Michael Isom picked up his fifth win on the season throwing 6 1/3 innings giving up 5 runs and striking out 2 Reedley batters. Michael came in a closed out the game for COS, picking up his fifth save of the season
COS now improves to a 16-7 overall and an 8-5 record in the CVC. Reedley falls to a 14-9 record and 7-6 in the CVC. These two teams will play Thurs. March. 29 at Reedley and then will return to COS to play the final game of the series on Sat. Mar. 31.
