The COS Lady Giants Softball team shut down the Merced She-Devil’s Tuesday, March 19. The mercy rule was put into play after the Lady Giants scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to go up 10-1.

The Lady Giants were the first once to put points on the board scoring in the bottom of the first. Merced tied the game in the top of the third. In the bottom of the third the Lady Giants didn’t hesitate to get take the lead and hold on to it for the rest of the game.

Six players on the Lady Giants team at least had an RBI to contribute to the victory. Pitcher Alex Cervantes pitched strong throughout the game only giving up one run and had five strikeouts to lead the Giants to victory.

With this victory the Lady Giants improve to 19-5. The Lady Giants are on the road Thursday and go against Fresno City.
