The COS pitching staff has begun to realize their potential as they’ve now led the Giants to four consecutive wins against Central Valley Conference opponents.
On Thursday, March15 it was Leland Tilley taking the mound for seven strong innings, holding the West Hills Falcons scoreless on only three hits.
Behind Tilley, the Giants defense continued to improve as well, making only one error and turning a pair of double-plays.
Tilley improved his record to 2-2, recording four strikeouts and walking only one batter.
The COS offense collected nine hits from seven different hitters, and took advantage of four Falcons errors on their way to a 6-1 victory.
Ryan McClellan and Dax Turner led the way with two doubles each.
The Giants did most of their damage in the fourth inning with a five run outburst.
West Hills got a run back in the ninth inning before Joseph Valentino took the mound to close the game out.
The Falcons had loaded the bases in the ninth but a diving catch at second base by Cody Scaggs ended the day.
The Giants are now 12-7 on the season with a 6-5 league record, standing alone in third place in the CVC.
COS goes for the three game sweep on Saturday at West Hills before returning for two home games next Thursday and Friday against Butte College.
